March 2014 – Project Update

We are excited to report that Sutter Park is nearing approval! We have accomplished quite a bit leading up to this point and we thank you all for your interest, comments, and support. Collectively, we have designed a wonderful project. Below is a quick update on Sutter Park and links to additional project-related materials:

  • There have been a few site design modifications to the Sutter Park plan. The updated Sutter Park site plan can be found here. Most significantly, please note that we added two small park areas – one, located in the southwest of the project, will preserve a small cluster of wonderful trees and the other, located in south central portion of the project, provides new pedestrian and bicycle access into Sutter Park. Each park addition truly adds character to the neighborhood.
  • The Sutter Park Design Guidelines are complete which provide a great deal of detail regarding the look and feel of the future homes (click here for an electronic copy). In addition, we encourage you to read Our Thoughts on Community (click here for an electronic copy). This short essay summarizes our thoughts on the project and process.
  • The Final Environmental Impact Report has been released by the City of Sacramento (Feb. 2014 – click here for electronic copy). Sutter Park is approaching its final reviews and, hopefully, project approval.  Sutter Park is scheduled to be heard on the following dates:
    • March 6 – Planning Commission
      • 5:30 pm at New City Hall, 915 I Street, 1st Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814
    • April 8 – City Council
      • 6:00 pm at New City Hall, 915 I Street, 1st Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814

Sutter Hospital anticipates decommissioning and de-licensing the existing Sutter Memorial by the end of 2014. Following this step, we will begin preparing the site for its transformation from hospital to park neighborhood. We anticipate construction and sale of homes mid-2016. Please note, these dates may change slightly but we want to keep you aware of the broad timeline. Again, we have really enjoyed working with the community and sincerely thank those of you who were deeply engaged throughout the planning process.
